How is AI used to improve care? keyboard_arrow_down
To leverage the full potential of AI in enhancing healthcare, it is crucial to understand the role of data de-identification and patient consent in developing advanced diagnostic tools.
As one of the nation’s leading radiology providers, I-MED Radiology is committed to the responsible use of artificial intelligence across our corner of the healthcare sector. We use AI-based tools to improve health outcomes and the patient care experience, without compromising patient safety, privacy, or the quality of our care. AI never makes medical decisions — our radiologists and care teams do.
During the booking process, you will be asked to make a choice regarding the de-identification of your personal information. By ticking the boxes, you consent to the de-identification of certain personal information (including your age, gender, reason for visiting I-MED Radiology as outlined in your request form, clinical scan images, and reports) and the use and disclosure of this data to design, build, and train AI models. This will support the enhancement of diagnostic accuracy and future patient outcomes by aiding clinical decision-making.
You may update your consent preferences at any time by letting us know via privacy@I-MED.com.au with your name, D.O.B and clinic you visited. Withdrawing your consent to de-identification means that I-MED Radiology will no longer rely on your permission to de-identify your personal information for the uses described in the consent request. However, due to the de-identification processes we apply, data that has already been de-identified at the time of your consent withdrawal cannot be re-identified and associated with you for deletion purposes. Such de-identified data will continue to be used in connection with permitted healthcare diagnostic AI models on an ongoing basis, although no new de-identification processes involving your personal information will be undertaken for that purpose.
You acknowledge that providing this consent to de-identification of your personal information is entirely voluntary. You understand that choosing not to provide consent to de-identification (or withdrawing your consent at any time) will not affect your access to, or the quality of care or treatment you receive from I-MED Radiology. You understand that the use of your data in connection with healthcare-focused diagnostic AI models may not be of any direct benefit to you.
